Spring in the Hill Country

Spring time in the Hill Country is my favorite time of the year.  The rebirth of plant life makes everything feel more alive.   March brings us the beautiful bluebonnets.
This is our front yard in March with the bluebonnets filling in around the cactus.  Such delicate beauty among the rugged  the cactus.

As the bluebonnets fade, they give way to other wildflowers as the seas of blue turn to patches of yellow and pink.  I always hope for the wildflowers to linger a little longer each spring because they are such a mood-lifter after the grey of winter.  All too soon summer will be here and the lovely colors of spring will wilt in the Texas heat.

We hope for more rain so our lakes will be replenished and allow the countryside to remain green just a little while longer.
